The Family Office Today

May 4th 2010 Mid Town Manhattan

Directed by:

Arthur A. Bavelas &

Russ Alan Prince

Today there are more then 750,000 individuals or families with a net-worth of US$20 million or more controlling an aggregate of US$97 trillion. More then ever, these wealthy individuals and families are considering either establishing their own family office or working with a multi-family office. There’s no question that the family office model is in great demand.

The complication is that most people don’t have a good grasp of the family office world. The term “family office” is thrown around so easily now-a-days that many people don’t have a very good idea of what differentiates a true well-functioning single- or multi-family office from all the wanna-bes.

Designed by the family office experts at The Bavelas Group and Prince & Associates, this workshop is designed for professionals in the family office universe – the executives at single and multi-family offices – as well as the wealthy themselves. Discussion, guided analysis and leading authorities in the field will make the session highly interactive and stimulating.

Who Should Attend?

·       Single-family offices wanting to benchmark themselves against their peers.

·       Multi-family offices wanting to understand the best practices being currently employed.

HNW Seek More Sophisticated Strategies

More than 100 high-net-worth advisors, estate planners and attorneys attended the Jan.22 workshop, Creating A High-Net-Worth Charitable Practice, which was sponsored by Private Wealth magazine and held at the Harvard Club in New York. Russ Alan Prince, ceo of Prince&Associates, discussed the importance of creating planned gifts and how to recruit the right people to do business with in a practice. The top way to find wealthy charitable clients is through referrals from intermediaries such as advisors, as they know the most about their clients' net worth and willingness to donate.

David Leibell, partner at the firm of Wiggin Dana, discussed endowments and investing charitable assets. Leibell said this provides an opportunity for advisors because some smaller endowments are not handling their investment correctly and overall charities are behind when it comes to investing

The workshop was led by Arthur Bavelas, chairman of the BavelasGroup
